What is Personal Training?


Whether you are new to exercise or training for a sporting event such as a marathon, Personal Training offers a truly individual exercise programme under the guidance of a highly qualified exercise professional.

Each session is tailored to meet the specific requirements and abilities of the client. No two people are identical and so neither are their sessions.

Personal Trainers offer nutrition and stress management advice as well as exercise.

Your personal trainer will also assist you in setting achievable, realistic goals as well as helping you to find ways to achieve a healthier lifestyle.


How much space is required?

The amount of space required depends on the number of people taking part in each session. As a general guide there should be enough space for each person to lie down and safely reach their arms out to their side.


About the Trainer

Miranda Rayner holds both a Diploma in Personal Training and a Diploma in Teaching Yoga.

She also holds many other qualifications including:-

Ante & Post Natal Exercise,

Exercise for Older Adults,

Sports Specific Training,

Running Coaching,

Nutrition & Weight Management,

Pad Boxing,

Postural Assessment,

Circuit Training,

Kettlebell Instructor.


Having previously worked in the fitness industry in London, Miranda has been offering home Personal Training in North Essex since 2006.

Miranda has personal experience of many of the issues facing her clients having herself made the journey from a size 22 to size 12 by following a sensible exercise and eating programme.

She also has experience of coaching towards specific events having competed in Triathlon and Marathon races as well as numerous other challenges.

In 2012 Miranda was recognised for her work with a place in the Olympic Torch Relay carrying the flame through Felixstowe in Suffolk.

Miranda is a member of The Register of Exercise Professionals.


Available Services


Personal Training Session

One-to-one sessions in a range of locations to suit your individual needs including, home, office, gym, outdoors etc. Sessions are tailor-made to meet your specific training needs and can include goal setting, nutrition advice and relaxation skills as well as exercise depending on your requirements.

Personal Training clients are also able to access advice from the trainer by email or phone between sessions.


Small Group sessions

Groups of between 2 and 5 people are offered a service similar to the Personal Training Session.


Large Group sessions

Groups of 6+ can be provided with targeted sessions such as ante & post-natal exercise, older adults, running group, core stability, weight-loss, toning circuit etc. These can be held in suitable local venues subject to Health and Safety assessment and approval by the trainer.


Personal Yoga Tuition

Yoga sessions are 90 minutes long and are designed to suit your individual needs whether you are a complete beginner or more experienced and looking to enhance your existing practice. All yoga sessions include a period of deep relaxation.


Yoga Classes

Miranda holds a group yoga class twice a month at The Emmanuel Church, New Pier Street, Walton-on-the-Naze CO14 8ED. The class begins at 11.15am and lasts for 90minutes. The cost is £7 per person, per class. Numbers are limited so please call to check first. A Facebook page with dates is here.
